Louisiana Get Ready – Buc-ee’s Confirms Grand Opening/Job Fair

A friend of mine from Crowley, Louisiana gave me a call the other afternoon, he wanted to know if I wanted some Beaver Nuggets from Buc-ee's. Based on his question I deduced he was in his truck heading toward Texas, which is currently the closest location of Buc-ee's although there are at least two locations planned for Louisiana and one other that is opening just across the state line in Mississippi.

Louisiana folks have a lot of reasons to be excited about Buc-ee's travel centers located in and near our state. They are money makers and the locations where they operate reap the benefits of extra taxes, extra jobs, and extra tourism dollars.

The downside to a Buc-ee's would have to be the extra traffic and congestion. If you've ever visited the Buc-ee's in Lower Alabama on the way to the beach you know how backed up that location and exit off of I-10 can get.

I do believe that congestion at the Robert, Alabama location of Buc-ee's will subside once the new Harrison County, Mississippi location of Buc-ee's begins operation. And based on reports, it appears as if that location is closer to opening than many of us realize.

In a perfect scenario, the new I-10 Buc-ee's in Mississippi would be open in time for Memorial Day weekend. That's when most of Louisiana heads for its first beach trip of the year. But it does not look as if that's going to happen. However, the location should be up and running before the July 4th holiday.

Based on information loosely presented by those close to the Harrison County Buc-ee's it appears as though the grand opening for that location will come in June. The specific date has not officially been released. However, this does give us some insight into the job opportunities that will be available.

You've probably heard that Buc-ee's pays very well and they offer great benefits. That's why many of you will want to be looking for the Buc-ee's job fair in April. We don't have a confirmed date, but the general rule of thumb is to host a job fair two months before a location opens. 

You'll want to keep that in mind as we track the progress of the Louisiana locations of Buc-ee's planned for near Ruston and for near Lafayette. Those two stores have potential opening dates in 2026. And based on the Beaver's best practices you should expect hiring to happen at those locations about two months before the doors are officially opened to the public.
