Louisiana Help Your Air Conditioner Keep You Cooler, Here’s How
Mother Nature has placed almost all of Louisiana in her cosmic oven during these last few days of spring. I guess Dear Ol' Ma Nature saw what happened at the end of the recent legislative session and figured we were "half-baked" and needed to be returned to the oven for some extra days.
All kidding aside, the next few days are going to be very dangerous around Louisiana. The National Weather Service has posted heat advisories from Texas to Alabama and Florida. And if you didn't do well in geography in school, Louisiana is in the middle of that swath of swelter.
Most of us in the South and Louisiana in general depend on air conditioning to keep us cool. However, it can be very expensive to run the air conditioner non-stop for days at a time. Heck, the nighttime temperatures are barely dropping to 80 degrees, and for most people that's just too hot to sleep.
So, what can you do to keep yourself cool and comfortable and still not blow the family budget on a power bill that rivals the cost of three days at Disney World? There are actually several things that you can do that require very little or no outlay of cash. These tips come from the people who specialize in making your HVAC units run efficiently so there is good reason to believe they work.
For most of us the difference between comfortable and moist, I know you hate that word, comes down to a dozen or so modifications to our HVAC equipment, landscape, and how we live in our homes.
So, if you want to stay cool and not spend a fortune, check these out. I can tell you from personal experience almost all of them have made a huge difference for my family either in how efficient our A/C unit performs or how much smaller our power bill is each month.
