Louisiana High School Forfeits Game Due To Lack Of Players
As you scroll through the Thursday and Friday night football scores on the Acadiana Post Game website this weekend there is no doubt one score that will stand out to you. That is the score of the South Cameron versus Basile game. The final score is listed as South Cameron 0 and Basile 2.
No, Basile didn't win the game on a last-second safety. South Cameron had to forfeit the contest because they couldn't dress enough players to field a team. The Tarpons normally dress 17 players for every game. Their coach Darryl Lee told a Lake Charles television station that they currently have 7 or 8 players injured.
The hope is that as these young men recover from their injuries the Tarpons can once again settle their football fortunes on the field and not have to miss out on any other chances to compete. I am sure for Coach Lee the decision to forfeit was not the decisions he wanted to make but it most certainly was the best choice for his team.
