Louisiana Lottery Confirms $320,000 Winner in Wednesday’s Drawing

Lady Luck has taken a few days away from Louisiana, or at least that is what we can only assume since lottery players in the state have not cashed a "big money winner" since November 1st. In that drawing held the day after Halloween a Powerball ticket sold in the state matched all the numbers necessary to claim a nice price of $150,000.

The November 1st winner was the third $150,000 winner in a row the Powerball game had produced in the state. The other two big wins were from a ticket sold in Shreveport on October 30th. Before that, a big-money Powerball winner was sold in Opelousas. 

But as luck would have it, the Powerball game wasn't where the big money win happened for a lucky Louisiana lottery player last night. In fact, the largest prize a Louisiana-sold ticket earned in last night's Powerball game was just $200. And, there were only two $200 winners made in last night's game.

Lottery players in Texas didn't fare much better in Wednesday's Powerball either. The largest prize generated by the drawing in the Lone Star State was only $200 too. However, in Texas, eleven Powerball tickets earned a $200 prize.

Where Was Louisiana's Big Lottery Win Last Night?

To find the big-money ticket you'd have to look past Powerball and to the two Louisiana games that are also drawn on Wednesday and Saturday. Those two games are Lotto and Easy 5. The current Lotto jackpot in Louisiana is $1.025 million dollars so no, that wasn't the game that created last night's big payout.

The $320,000 Louisiana Lottery win on Wednesday was from the state's Easy 5 game. The way that the game works is players choose five numbers between 1 and 37. According to the Louisiana Lottery website, it's the game with the best overall odds of any draw-style game available in the state. And last night, Easy 5 paid off handsomely.

The Lottery's Big Wins page tells us a ticket sold in Metairie matched all five of the numbers that were drawn for last night's game to claim to jackpot prize of $320,000. We are still waiting on confirmation from the Louisiana Lottery on the exact point of purchase but if you played Easy 5 and bought a ticket in Metairie, Louisiana today might be a really good day.

The Easy 5 jackpot will return to $50,000 for Saturday's game. As we mentioned Lotto is over $1.025 million and the big multi-state games are starting to grow their jackpots too. The next Mega Millions drawing on Friday will offer an estimated top prize of $223 million dollars and the Powerball game on Saturday will have an estimated top prize of $220 million dollars.
