
Louisiana Parent Sues Rapides School Board After Shocking Alleged Assault
BALL, La. - A lawsuit filed in Central Louisiana is drawing serious attention after a parent claims a teacher physically assaulted his son inside of a classroom.
The case involves the Rapides Parish School Board and the Town of Ball.
Lawsuit Filed Over Alleged Assault Of Young Student
According to KALB, Courtland, the child's parent, has filed a lawsuit against the Rapides Parish School Board, along with the Town of Ball and other entities, over an incident involving a former elementary school teacher, Stephanie Robertson.

The lawsuit stems from a 2023 incident where Robertson is accused of physically assaulting a student inside a classroom. The child’s parent claims the situation was serious enough to warrant legal action and is now seeking accountability.
Video Footage Allegedly Shows Concerning Behavior
Security footage obtained from the school reportedly shows troubling moments inside the classroom. In the video a child is seen being thrown from a desk. The student later attempts to move again, and Robertson responds by grabbing and carrying the child by his clothing.
The child in the security video is believed to be around kindergarten age.
Following the incident, Robertson resigned, but it's not clear if her resignation is tied to the alleged altercation.

Criminal Charge And Legal Questions Raise Concerns
Authorities in the Town of Ball, Louisiana has issued a misdemeanor simple battery citation in connection with the incident.

The child’s father, Courtland, says the alleged incident has had lasting effects telling KALB “My child is traumatized; he can’t go back to school”.
