Powerball Climbs to $1 Billion as Louisiana Lottery Confirms Winners

(Baton Rouge, LA) Our sources at the Louisiana Lottery in Baton Rouge and the Powerball administrative offices in Des Moines, Iowa, have confirmed that Powerball players in Louisiana will be playing for a jackpot prize of at least $1 billion on Saturday night.

As you've probably guessed, there was no jackpot winner in Wednesday's Powerball Lottery drawing. The jackpot for Wednesday's game was an estimated $936 million for the annuitized jackpot. The amount would be close to $431.5 million if you won and took the cash payout.

But alas, no one managed to secure a ticket that matched all the numbers needed to claim the game's biggest prize. But that doesn't mean there weren't winners. In fact, our friends at the Louisiana Lottery say about 13,000 Powerball players in the state have money coming back this morning. Let's see if you're one of them.

As host Randy Traynor described during the drawing, the actual estimated prize for Powerball on Wednesday was $935.5 million, which is a moot point because there was no winner. However, voice will be anything but mute in Maryland, Michigan, and New Jersey, where each state sold Match 5 Million winners for Wednesday's game.

In Louisiana, just over 6,500 Powerball players will receive their two dollars, plus an additional two dollars for matching just the Powerball, last night. Another 3,141 Powerball players had that same number match scenario in Louisiana last night, but they'll be getting $12 instead of $4. Why? They opted for the Power Play function of the game.

In Louisiana's other Wednesday "Draw Games," there was no winner in Lotto. The jackpot in that game will be $625,000 when they draw again on Saturday. Easy 5 also held a drawing last night. There was no jackpot winner in that game either. The Easy 5 jackpot will climb to at least $120,000 for its next drawing, also on Saturday night.
