Louisiana Powerball Results Wednesday – $50,000 Winner Expiring
From the home office on Laurel Street in Baton Rouge, Louisiana our sources at the Louisiana Lottery which is housed at that location have revealed the Wednesday night drawing results in Powerball, Lotto, and Easy 5.
But before we hit those highlights, you should know a $50,000 Powerball winner that was sold for the July 13th drawing in Baton Rouge is set to expire in 28 days.
The $50,000 winner matched four of five white balls and the Powerball in the July drawing. It was sold at a Racetrac Gas Station/Convenience Store at 10480 Burbank Drive in the city of Baton Rouge.
If you recall playing Powerball at that location back in July you might want to check a coat pocket, your car's console, or do you think the person who is holding the big money winner is planning a Christmas surprise and is just holding it to share Christmas morning?
That would be pretty cool if that happened. It would certainly be cooler than allowing the ticket to expire. And since I know you're wondering what happens to the money when lottery tickets expire, here's your answer. The money goes back to the lottery and then this happens.
According to the Lottery's statute, unclaimed prize money is returned to players in the form of prizes and promotions, such as increased payouts on scratch-offs and additional second-chance promotions.
So, the winner that doesn't claim the winnings donates their prize back to all of us in the form of other prizes and promotional opportunities.
Powerball Drawing for December 11, 2024 - Did Anyone Win?
No one won the jackpot but there were some winners of note. Let's take a look at Wednesday's drawing. Here's how it unfolded.
The jackpot at the time of the drawing was estimated to be $30.4 million. Wednesday's Powerball did not produce a jackpot winner or a Match 5 Million winner. In fact, the winnings across Louisiana according to the Louisiana Lottery were rather "light" compared to a typical Powerball scenario.
The largest prize a Louisiana Powerball ticket earned Wednesday $200. There were only five tickets sold in the state that earned that prize. Heck, only seven tickets won $100 in Wednesday's drawing. Based on figures provided by the Louisiana Lottery only a little over 3,000 tickets earned some kind of money back for Louisiana players Wednesday night.
There were no jackpot winners in either Easy 5 or Lotto so those jackpots will continue to climb ahead of Saturday night's drawing. The estimated prize for Lotto on Saturday will be $825,000. Easy 5 will boast an estimated top prize of $70,000. And the Powerball is anticipated to be in the neighborhood of $45 million on Saturday night.
The big prize still belongs to the Mega Millions Game. When that multi-state lottery game draws on Friday night the estimated top prize will be $670 million. Mega Millions has not had a jackpot winner since the first week in September.
