Lady Luck must have been in Louisiana for Mardi Gras parades over the weekend. That's the only thing we can figure out. The Louisiana Lottery has confirmed that Monday's Powerball lottery drawing did produce a big-money winner in the state.

The big win comes as Monday's Powerball jackpot was estimated to be $233 million for the annuitized jackpot and $106.6 million for those who might choose the lump sum or cash payout for a ticket that matched all the numbers needed to claim the game's top prize.

The Powerball multi-state lottery has not produced a jackpot winner since the January 18th drawing. At that time a ticket sold in Oregon matched all of the white balls and the Powerball to claim a top prize of $328 million. In the time between that win and last night's win the Louisiana Lottery confirmed wins in Chauvin and Kenner for $50,000 on February 15th and February 10th respectively.

Here's how Monday's drawing the Powerball game played out.

Our sources at Powerball did confirm that no tickets sold for Monday's game matched all the numbers needed to claim the $233 million jackpot. A ticket sold in Florida earned Match 5 Million money by matching all five of the white balls. Two other tickets matched four of five with the Power Play option for a win of $150,000 and seven tickets sold for Monday's Powerball earned a prize of $50,000.

A Louisiana-sold ticket was one of those $50,000 winners. We do know the ticket purchaser matched four of five and the Powerball but did not invoke the Power Play option. If they had, that extra dollar spent on the ticket could have added an additional $100,000 to their winnings.

Our source at the Louisiana Lottery did confirm that the $50,000 winner was purchased in a town of only 143 people according to the 2010 census. That town is Downsville, Louisiana. It's located near the Lincoln and Union Parish line near Ruston. The $50,000 winner was purchased at Wilderness Acres on Highway 15.

The fact that there was no jackpot winner in Monday's drawing means that the Powerball top prize on Wednesday will climb to $248 million for the estimated annuity and $113.4 million for the cash option.

Tonight's Mega Millions drawing will feature a jackpot prize of $181 million. Mega Millions last got a jackpot win on December 27th of last year when a ticket sold in California claimed the game's top prize of $1.22 billion. The last big Mega Millions win in Louisiana happened on January 14th when a ticket sold in Leesville earned a prize of $30,000.
