Louisiana Residents Encouraged to Own Your Own Health
How would you like to get healthier, weigh less, have more energy, and win prizes? It’s all possible through the Louisiana Department of Health. The Own Your Own Health Challenge is now underway in the state and you can sign up right now to be a part of it.
The “competition” will pit you against other residents of the state in various health-related activities. Some of those activities include who can lose the most weight or who can win the steps challenge. As you see, all activities revolve around an activity.
The program uses a series of challenges set up in Google Maps. These challenges challenge participants to get out and go do. Over 100,000 people have participated in the program in one form or another over the past twenty years.
The Own Your Own Health Challenge also features weekly drawings for prizes. So, it’s not like you have to be the very best at being healthy to be a winner. You can be a winner just by participating. The competition is also exploring the option of regional competitions or city versus city competition just to spice things up.
Studies have shown that even mild or moderate activity can play a major part in improving a person’s health. The Own Your Own Health Challenge is designed to be a stepping stone to introduce more people to better nutrition and more frequent physical activity as a way to promote good health in the state.
