Louisiana Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser and the Office of State Parks have announced the "Park with Pets" policy for overnight stays with dogs at cabins. In a press release issued today, (Thursday, August 20), Nungesser says that although pets have been welcome at our beautiful state parks outdoors at all times, owners have not been able to bring their furry friends with them on an overnight stay in one of the parks that have cabins. Until now.

The new "Park with Pets" policy will go into effect in September, and there will be a surcharge of $40 per dog per stay. There will be a maximum of two dogs allowed at each cabin. Owners will also have to prove that their pets are up to date on current vaccinations, and they must also be kept on a leash while outside in the park. With the exception of service animals,  pets are prohibited at group camps, inside enclosed structures, and in swimming areas.

16 State Parks will be implementing the "Park With Pets" policy, and they are listed below. And for those of you who would prefer no pets, at least half of all cabins will remain pet free. Time to enjoy the Sportsman's Paradise with Fido, y'all!
