Louisiana Town Named as ‘Best Summer Vacation Destination’
Summertime getaways are important in today's busy lifestyle. And with the start of a new school year fast approaching you're running out of time to squeeze in that summer vacation. But if you do manage to get a few days away, that's when the questions start rolling in. And then there's the cost, you do have to think about that, don't you?
But with time and a little bit of money set aside, you might be wondering where you should travel. The online travel site Trips to Discover has put down its two cents on where they believe the best vacation destinations are in the country. And one sleepy Louisiana town has made the list as the top vacation destination in the state.
Before we look at Louisiana, let's see what the website said about our neighbors. If you want to visit the best vacation spot in Alabama, you'd want to hit Gulf Shores. If you wanted to make that same trip but with a Mississippi destination you'd find yourself relaxing in Biloxi.
Are you starting to pick up on a bit of a theme here?
Now, let's try Texas. Hmm, they came to a similar conclusion with another beach destination, South Padre Island topping the list. Alright, before we reveal Louisiana's top choice what about Arkansas? They don't even have a beach, do they? The Trips to Discover people liked Hot Springs for their Arkansas getaway. It does have a spa, some casinos, a horse track, and acres and acres of wonderful lakes and wilderness nearby too.
What is Louisiana's Top Summer Vacation Destination?
If I said Lake Charles, you could at least come up with a reason, right? LC does have casinos and great fishing. If I said Shreveport/Bossier City you could at least come up with a reason, right? The casinos, the horse track, the traffic, they all make for a magical experience, right? Now, if I said Alexandria. You'd know this survey was totally BS, right?
Well, Trips to Discover chose to not highlight any of those places and opted to say the best summer vacation spot in Louisiana is Grand Isle. I can't argue with that logic at all. The Island has come back a lot following Hurricane Ida's damage a few years ago. The fishing is great, the beaches are good, the people are friendly, and the food is good, damn good.
Grand Isle makes for the best kind of vacation. You can get out and do just as easily as you can sit back and not do. It's up to you and how you choose to relax. If you'd like to see Trips to Discover's complete list of Best Summer Vacation locations, you can follow this link.
