Is this from the "too good to be true" department?

The 2018 LSU Tigers' basketball recruiting class, ranked by many as one of the ten best in the nation, has apparently raised some eyebrows.

A report states that the recruiting tactics of LSU head coach Will Wade are being examined.

According to Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports, "members of the NCAA enforcement staff have spent parts of the past six months" looking into how Wade has gone about recruiting since he arrived at LSU.

The report states that NCAA enforcement officials have done work both on the phone and in person to look into Wade, including traveling around the country, to learn more about his recruiting.

LSU has signed five-star power forward Naz Reid (Roselle, New Jersey), two-time Louisiana Mr. Basketball Ja'Vonte Smart of Scotlandville, and top-50 forward Darius Days (Gainesville, Florida), while receiving a commitment from  five-star forward Emmitt Williams (Orlando, Florida).

The 35-year old Wade, who in in his first season at LSU, previously coach at Tennessee-Chattanooga  for two years (2013-2015) and VCU for two season (2015-2017).

LSU athletic director Joe Alleva told Yahoo, "After talking to my staff we have had no contact from the NCAA regarding any irregularities."

Although a separate incident, the was a Yahoo investigative report, published last Friday, that listed several former college players from a number of schools around the country to receive some form of payment or loan from a former NBA agent and his firm, with former Tigers Tim Quarterman and Jarell Martin listed among them.

On Friday, Alleva said in a statement: "While LSU has not been contacted by federal, league or NCAA officials, we can confirm a proactive and voluntary examination of current coaches and players was conducted by compliance officials and outside legal counsel in the fall of 2017. That examination found the program in full compliance with NCAA, SEC and University rules and regulations LSU will continue to monitor basketball and other athletic programs for NCAA and SEC rules."
