LSU jumped on Mississippi State pitcher JT Ginn's fastball early and cruised to a dominant 12-2 victory in 7 innings at the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama.

A 5 run 3rd inning, followed by a 7 run 4th inning, propelled LSU to a 12-2 lead they would never relinquish.

Senior pitcher Clay Moffitt, who walked on to the team 4 years ago, started his first SEC game. In a career marred by injuries, Moffitt pitched 2 shutout innings before being relieved in the 3rd.

After losing to the Bulldogs in 17 innings in the longest SEC tournament game in history Wednesday night/Thursday morning, the Tigers won a wild one against Auburn yesterday, and now have an impressive win over Mississippi State today to improve their odds of hosting an NCAA Regional.

With the win, LSU advances to the semi-finals of the conference tourney for a matchup with Vanderbilt on Saturday afternoon at 3:30. Head coach Paul Mainieri does not know who will start on the mound yet.
