LSU Hires Will Wade To Coach Men’s Basketball
If you're a coach on the college level then the Southeastern Conference is a huge stepping stone to greatness. In the case of LSU Men's basketball greatness is not a word that has been used very often. Perhaps the Tigers' new coach Will Wade can turn that supposition around.
I believe he certainly has the talent and he is surrounded by talent right here in the state. If Athletics Director Joe Alleva is correct and Will Wade is the man to bring Tiger basketball into prominence Coach Wade is going to have to learn to speak "Orgeron" rather quickly.
The LSU job will be the third successive step in the right direction for Wade. He opened his head coaching career at the college level at Chatanooga. He then went on to Virginia Commonwealth University. His efforts there took that team to the NCAA Tournament for two straight years. The hope is he can bring his coaching magic to Baton Rouge and bring the Tigers back to the big dance as well.
Reports out of Baton Rouge suggest that Wade was given a six-year deal with LSU. Whether or not his career will survive long enough to finish out those six years will be played out on the court. LSU fans and everyone else if we're being fair loves a winner. There has not been much love for LSU basketball since Coach Dale Brown left the sideline.
Looking at Coach Wade's previous record and how he has improved each program that he has taken over I would say Tiger basketball will come back stronger. After all, when you're at rock bottom there isn't any way to go but up.
