Lululemon Facing Backlash Over ‘Misleading’ Label

(KMDL-FM) When it comes to active wear for women, especially, there is no brand that is more highly sought after and enjoyed than the items presented by Lululemon. Clothing that used to be the sole domain of runners and athletes has now found its way into the modern American wardrobe.

The reason shoppers like Lululemon is? The quality and the style. The brand was built to be a little more expensive than other brands that offer similar items. The payback for consumers was a quality garment that would stand up to the rigors of being worn.

To complement the higher standard of quality, the Lululemon brand also offers a great selection of styles, colors, and fits that allow even the most hard-to-fit figure something flattering, colorful, and comfortable.

However, a recent product release by Lululemon that should have been a slam dunk down south is meeting resistance because the brand has done something that appears to be uncharacteristically off-brand. They appear to have misled consumers about the new offering, and it hasn't taken long for even the staunchest supporters of Lululemon to fire back.

The product in question is called Lululinen. Southerners will instantly recognize the "linen" portion of the new offering. For decades, maybe even centuries, those of us who live down south have had to battle the heat and humidity of where we live when we are attempting to balance our desire to look "on point" in a fashion sense. And to win that battle, we have turned to the light and airy comfort of linen.

Why Are Consumers Upset with Lululemon's New Product, Lululinen?

It would stand to reason that Lululemon combined with "linen" would be the ultimate deep south garment. It might have been if there wasn't something missing from the garment. That something is linen, or at least an abundance of it. The tag on the Lululinen clothing suggests "it's more than 2/3rds polyester and about 10% linen". At least that is how one Reddit user summed up the new garments.

Still, some have purchased the garments and say they feel wonderful and perform up to expectations. Somehow, I think the fans of the brand will find a way to "look past this" and will probably make the latest offering one of the hottest cool looks for the summer.

Just know it's not the "linen" you might have been expecting, but it is, in fact, all Lululemon where the quality is concerned.
