Mardi Gras Barricades Go Up Today In Lafayette

There may be a few traffic delays going on in the Lafayette area today, but it's for a good reason. Mardi Gras barricades will be going up throughout the day. Please be patient with the workers setting up the barricades because parades begin this weekend. The Lafayette Consolidated Government's Public Works Department has quite a task on their hands. In addition to the 5,500 barricades set up along the 3.9 mile parade route, 121 porta-pottys and seven dumpsters will be placed along the route as well. These hard-workers are an important part of Mardi Gras.The parade route is exactly the same as previous years and you can check out the complete schedule of the Public Works Department's preparations here.
