Matt Stell has earned his first No. 1 single on Billboard's  Country Airplay chart with his debut single, "Prayed for You."

Stell's hit single ascended the rungs to take the top position this week, moving from No. 3 to No. 1. Spurred by an increase of 14 percent, "Prayed for You" reached an audience of 37.5 million, according to Billboard.

"Prayed for You" also marks an important milestone, as it's the first time that a debut single has reached No. 1 on the Country Airplay charts this year. The last time that a debut single reached No. 1 on the Country Airplay charts was Jimmie Allen with his song "Best Shot," which spent three weeks in the top position. The two country newcomers teamed up on the song "Home in a Hometown" earlier this year, which appeared on Stell's Everywhere But On EP.

Stell achieved another milestone with the success of "Prayed for You," as the song broke the longest period between debut singles claiming the top position since 2014. It was in 2014 that Maddie & Tae clenched the top spot and became the first country music act to reach the summit since Florida Georgia Line raced their way to the top with their diamond-certified "Cruise."

"As an artist and songwriter, this is always the goal you're chasing. I'm really lucky to get to collaborate with my co-writers," Stell says of his No. 1. "Sharing this honor with them, as well as [my Wide Open/RECORDS/Good Company/Arista Nashville] team, makes it even sweeter."

The endearing song was written by Stell, his manager Ash Bowers and Allison Veltz.
