It was a rough start to the month of April for Cajun fiddler Michael Doucet of the Grammy Award-winning band BeauSoleil after he slipped and broke his hip while the group was touring in Alaska.

His brother and guitarist, David, let everyone know on Facebook about the incident and asked for prayers for his sibling.

The band played shows in Fairbanks and in Anchorage over the weekend without its founder Michael, according to the Anchorage Daily News. The fall happened near Michael's hotel room as he slipped on the ice.

He had surgery over the weekend.

Michael, who is from Scott, has since been discharged from the hospital and is expected to fly home on Wednesday. According to ADN, the band is postponing some upcoming shows as Michael heals.
