Morgan City Man Arrested After 4-Hour Standoff

After a four-hour standoff, Morgan City Police have arrested 34-year-old Gary Cheramie following a domestic dispute.

According to our news partners at KATC, police responded to a call of a domestic dispute at approximately 8:25am on Saturday after a female resident reported hearing gun fire.

St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office and the St. Mary Parish SWAT team assisted in apprehending Cheramie with the use of tear gas around noon.

Cheramie is being charged with illegal use of a firearm, but more charges are pending.
