The Acadia Parish Sheriff's Office arrested the Morse police Chief on charges of malfeasance in office after there was an investigation into misuse of public funds.

Sheriff K.P. Gibson says August Guillory was booked into the jail on one count of malfeasance in office and one count of theft.

The Sheriff says Guillory got a departmental purchase order to allegedly buy things for the department, but Gibson says the items that were bought were believed to have been bought for personal use.

The 33-year-old Police Chief's bond was set at $5,000.

Gibson had this to say about the incident,

"There is no enjoyment investigating law enforcement personnel, but we have to follow the same laws that all citizens must follow. We must maintain the public's trust".
