NASCAR Star Airlifted To Hospital After Fiery Crash [Video]
Before every NASCAR race fans are asked to rise and remove their hats for the singing of the National Anthem and for a prayer. That invocation always asks our higher power for safety. Let's hope the prayers of millions of NASCAR fans will be answered in regards to Saturday night's incident at Kansas Speedway.
Aric Almirola is one of the up and coming stars of motorsports. He is the pilot of one of NASCAR's most legendary machines. He drives the #43 Richard Petty Motorsports car. Last night Almirola was involved in a horrific crash that also involved Joey Logano and Danica Patrick.
Following this crash, Almirola had to be extricated from his crumpled machine. He was placed on a backboard and stretcher and then he was airlifted to a nearby medical facility. If you watched the video of the crash it's amazing that any of the three drivers were able to walk away.
The good news, Almirola was conscious and speaking to medical personnel as he was being transported. In a statement from Richard Petty Motorsports, it was reported that Almirola was in stable condition and was being kept overnight in the hospital for observation. A Petty spokesman said that new information on Almirola's condition would be released when it was available and when it was appropriate to do so.
The other two drivers, Joey Logano and Danica Patrick, were taken to the infield care center at the race track. They were checked out and released by doctors to return to their teams.
By the way, the race, The Go Bowling 400, was won by Martin Truex Jr.
