When the Dixie Chicks and Beyonce surprised the world with their performance of "Daddy Lessons" at the 2016 CMA Awards, it was the revelation of secret that they had been keeping for weeks. And just like it didn't take more than a few minutes for the studio version of the song's remix to hit the internet for download, it didn't take Natalie Maines long to start gushing over their collaboration on Twitter.

Just after their performance, the Dixie Chicks' lead singer posted a funny pic of the trio-turned-quartet backstage. It's impossible to tell if it was snapped before of after their groundbreaking performance, but either way, it's totally clear that Queen Bey and the Chicks had one fun night. In a sly reference to Beyonce's hit single "Formation," Maines noted that the pop superstar completely slayed ... all day. (She's clearly a fan, as a recent Instagram post about her new doormat shows.)

While Beyonce's appearance on Country Music's Biggest Night was certainly a surprise, the Dixie Chicks' return to the CMAs was an equally astounding feat. Maines added another tweet mentioning the band's long-time hiatus from the country music awards show.

Maines' comments about never performing at the CMAs again likely stemmed from her 2003 comments about then-president George W. Bush and the Chicks' subsequent ostracization from the country music industry. Still, the Dixie Chicks remain among the acts with the most CMA Awards wins and have taken home more trophies than any other vocal group, including four Vocal Group of the Year wins and an Entertainer of the Year win in 2000.
