Natchitoches Christmas Festival Begins November 21
In a world of uncertainty, it's nice to know that some of our favorite holiday events will go as usual in 2020. I don't know about you, but it brings me a great deal of comfort to know that I can attend some of my family's cherished holiday traditions this year. And the annual Christmas Festival in Natchitoches is one of them.
The 94th annual holiday festival of lights is presented each year in Louisiana's oldest city, and has become a mainstay for generations of families to attend. It was even prominently featured in the 1989 movie "Steel Magnolias", staring Julia Roberts and Shirley MacLain.
The Natchitoches Christmas Festival Committee announced this morning that the festivities will happen from November 21 - January 6 this year, but with a few adjustments due to the COVID-19 crisis. They have provided a few rules and guidelines from the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office and Louisiana Department of Health, and since the decision to carry on was just announced today, an official schedule has not been put together yet.
Some of the changes include:
- Armbands will be only be pre-sold on their website at www.natchitocheschristmas.com starting today, Monday, November 9th, 2020 at 8:00am. A limited amount of 3000 armbands will be sold for each Saturday from November 21st – December 26th, 2020. Tickets will not be sold at the gate, and the price will be $10 for children and adults.
- Masks and social distancing will be highly recommended throughout the season
- Armbands will be required to enter the Riverbank area on Saturdays only
- Food vendors will be on the Riverbank area 7 days a week during the festivities.
As soon as a schedule of events is confirmed, we will update this story. Have fun, y'all!
I Can't Wait To Go To These Festivals Again
