New I-10 Location for Bass Pro Shops Superstore Revealed
If you travel America's "Southern Highway" you will get to experience a lot of Louisiana. Interstate 10 rolls through Lake Charles, Lafayette, across the Atchafalaya Basin, and then on to Baton Rouge and New Orleans. And all along the roadway, you can catch several glimpses of Louisiana's real calling card, the outdoors.
And While I-10 might be an interesting window into Louisiana's natural world let's face it the real attraction of the roadway is all those cars and trucks that we hate driving next to. As you might imagine the amount of traffic and potential traffic on I-10 has played a large part in where businesses choose to locate.
There is a reason why Buc-ee's the world-renowned travel center has chosen a plot of ground alongside I-10 near Louisiana Avenue in Lafayette. There is ample traffic flow, the infrastructure is good and will be made better, and the Lafayette location of Buc-ee's would split the difference between the Buc-ee's near Houston on I-10 and the new Buc-ee's in Harrison County Mississippi.
Is Louisiana Getting A Fourth Bass Pro Shops Store?
Bass Pro Shops currently operates stores in Denham Springs and Bossier City, Louisiana. The company also operates a Bass Pro Shops/Cabela's Boating Center in Gonzales. And while many sportsmen in the western half of Louisiana might welcome a new Bass Pro Shops store along I-10 it is apparently not in the cards for another Louisiana location.
Following a lengthy courting period, the principals at Bass Pro Shops have decided that their newest location would be in Jackson County Mississippi. It will be near Exit 50 off of I-10. This new facility will reportedly be 75,000 square feet and is expected to open in early 2027. The business plan calls for the hiring of some 125 "outfitters" to be employed.
