New Iberia City Councilwoman Natalie Lopez was reportedly arrested last night (12/4/20) and charged with DUI, no liability insurance and battery of a police officer.

KLFY reports Lopez was behind the wheel of a vehicle involved in an accident just after 9 p.m. Friday, December 4.

Lopez was arrested once police officers arrived at the scene.

She was reportedly also charged with not having liability insurance and battery on a police officer according to KLFY.

Lopez was arrested in January of this year  and charged with felony DWI charge, child endangerment, resisting an officer, renewal registration, and proper control of vehicle-careless operation.

Lopez has released an apology posted by KLFY below.

First and foremost, I would like to apologize to the constituents of District 1. Since getting elected in 2011 a lot has happened in my life, and while part of me thinks my personal life is my business, another part of me knows when I signed up to run for office I was accepting that my life now has the possibility of being put under a microscope.
