New Iberia Man Charged With Vehicular Homicide After Pedestrian Is Killed

The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office was called out to the scene of a car crash involving a pedestrian around 11:30 last night in the 800 block of Lombard Street.

Deputies say a 39-year-old was struck by 37-year-old Quincy Mallory's vehicle.

Police say Mallory's SUV crossed the centerline of Lombard Street and hit the man who later died a Lafayette hospital.

Mallery has been arrested and charged with the following:

• Vehicular homicide
• Operating a vehicle while intoxicated
• Crossing the centerline
• Driving with a suspended driver's license

The victim had been walking near the eastbound lane of the roadway.
