Nick Saban’s Little Debbie Confession – Louisiana Fans Surprised
When Nick Saban was the Head Football Coach at Louisiana State University at Baton Rouge he was a hero in Louisiana. When he left the LSU Tigers for the NFL fans of the team were a bit upset but they understood that the NFL job was a chance for Saban to grow as a coach.
However, when Nick Saban signed on to take over the reins of the football program at the University of Alabama that's when LSU fans lost their minds and a lot of respect for the former Tiger coach.
Needless to say, there has been a lot of water that has washed under a lot of bridges since all of those events took place. Nick Saban is now retired from coaching college football every day. Instead, he will be talking about college football almost every day on ESPN. The sports network hired Saban as a college football analyst for their College Gameday Program and there's no doubt, that Coach Saban will have some interesting points of view
As is the case with almost every icon, love him or hate him Saban is an icon, some quirky stories never seem to be completely confirmed nor denied when you're dealing with an icon. One such story is the legend of Nick Saban and Little Debbie.
For the uninitiated Little Debbie is a brand of snacks that is quite popular with folks in the South. Nick Saban is reportedly a huge fan of the Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies. It's been said he eats at least one every day. In fact, he even downed a Little Debbie during ESPN's NFL Draft Coverage. It was during this snack that Saban revealed the most shocking truth about his Little Debbie "addiction".
ESPN, Saban's new employer, has already admitted that part of his compensation is "Little Debbies" every day. But that's not the shocking part of the story. this is. Little Debbie has never sent Saban a complimentary box, ever. You'd think the "snacks the South loves" would want a high-level spokesperson such as Saban to continue to be happy with the product, but no, Little Debbie hasn't played it that way.
The prevailing theory as to why Little Debbie has not reached out to Coach Saban with a complimentary box or case of Oatmeal Creme Pies might have something to do with where the company is based. Little Debbies are made by McKee Foods. They are based in Collegedale Tennessee, which is just a few minutes down the road from Neyland Stadium and the home of the Tennessee Volunteers. Maybe that's why Coach Saban has never gotten a free Little Debbie during his time with Alabama.
