Now That It’s October – When Does Louisiana ‘Fall Back’ With the Clocks?
(KMDL-FM) Over the weekend, the "weather gods" were kind to Louisiana, giving us a tiny taste of what fall weather will feel like once it fully settles in along the Gulf South. When the wind gets a bit wispy, the leaves a little crunchy, and the football arguments a lot louder, you know we are beyond September and into October. Also known as Spooky Season, or that month when we mess with the clocks, as in a return to Standard Time from Daylight Saving Time.
If you really want to get a discussion going around any gathering of more than three people, mention Daylight Saving Time and changing the clocks. You will hear some very pointed opinions on the subject. Most of those opinions are similar to this one: "Can we just stop messing with the clocks"?

We are closer than we have ever been in that regard, but you've heard the expression, "It's going to take an act of Congress"? Well, it's literally going to take an act of Congress to do away with the bi-annual chronometer adjustment. That's fancy talk for "messing with the clocks".
Explain It Like I'm 5 - Why Do We Change the Clocks Twice a Year?
You probably know a little bit about the history of why we do the clock thing, don't you? We adjusted the time "back in the day" to make farming hours more in line with regular business hours. Then we stayed with the program to save energy throughout the World Wars, and we even pumped up Daylight Saving Time as a thing during the "Energy Crisis" of the 70s.
But since then, I can't seem to locate too many good reasons for needing to Spring Forward and transitionally Fall Back. But there is still one good reason for doing so. That reason is, everyone else is. So, if you don't want to be the only one out of step with the rest of the marching band, here is when you will Fall Back, perhaps for the final time.
When Is The Exact Date and Time We Fall Back to Standard Time?
On November 2, 2025, at 0200, that's the two o'clock that's in the morning, you will set your clock back one hour to return to Standard Time. You can make that adjustment just before you go to bed if you want to. Or, if you live in a house with the internet, just about everything connected will automatically reset the time for you.
So, you've got one more month of Daylight Saving Time, and trust me, if you have to get up early and stay late at work, you won't be seeing too much daylight during your drive. But at least with today's technology, you probably won't have to hunt for the owner's manual for your phone or watch to figure out how to change the clock, will you?
