Two St. Landry Parish men are now in the St. Landry Parish jail after the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's department executed a search warrant on their food stand. The search of T&E Soul Food and Sno-Ball Stand in Opelousas yielded a lot more than delicious food and tasty frozen treats. Deputies recovered some high grade marijuana and arrested the two proprietors for possession of marijuana and transaction involving proceeds from drug offenses.

Sgt. Clay Higgins with the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Department says the pot the two men were selling wasn't just any old marijuana. The pair was selling "hydro" marijuana out of their stand.

"It's more dangerous than regular marijuana because the THC level is higher due to the way it is grown and cultivated,"
Higgins comments were reported by the Louisiana Radio Network. He went on to say that 37 year old Jermaine Doucet and 32 year old Bryant Fields , both of Opelousas were placed under arrest after deputies gathered enough evidence.
Because of the presence of children the two men might be facing more severe charges in connection with their arrest. Higgins explained,
"The business was within drug free zones at two facilities," said Higgins. "A church and an elementary school."
This story is particularly disturbing because hundreds of children pass by the sno-ball stand everyday.
