It wasn't a quiet Easter Sunday in Opelousas at least as far as Opelousas Police are concerned. Officers with the department were called to the scene of shooting on Easter Sunday at an address on Garland Avenue.

When police arrived on the scene shortly before 4 pm they found one victim with a gunshot wound to the buttocks. According to reports, the woman was shot during an argument with a male suspect. The altercation was allegedly over a stolen firearm.

The suspect fled the area before police arrived. The victim was taken to a local hospital where her wounds are not thought to be life-threatening. Opelousas Police are continuing their investigation. So far, so arrests have been made.
