Parts of Acadia Parish Under Voluntary Evacuation
The Office of Emergency Preparedness has issued a voluntary evacuation for western Acadia Parish along with parts of southern Acadia Parish. These are areas affected by the Mermentau River and Bayou Nezpique.
According to a spokesperson, these areas are between Basile and Evangeline as well as Mermentau Cove and Premeauxville.
The parish does not have any shelters open but should the need arise, that would be addressed.
All schools in Acadia Parish will be closed on Wednesday.
Should you need sandbags in the parish, the locations are as follows:
- City of Crowley: Tue & Wed from 7:30am to 5:30pm
- City of Rayne: Tue & Wed from 8:00am to 6:00pm
- Town of Church Point: Tue & Wed from 7:00am to 4:00pm
- Acadia Parish Police Jury Barns: (Crowley, Iota & Branch) Tue from 7:30am to 5:30pm
