Political tensions are high across the United States as the 2020 election quickly approaches. Two political opponents that are running for Governor in Utah have come together in a new advertisement to set an example of how things should be done for competing politicians everywhere.

In an effort to stand united in making their state a better place, Chris Peterson and Spencer Cox joined together to create a political ad that is a bit different from what we are used to seeing in the United States.

The two candidates are making a point to show that while they are both vying for the same voters support, at the end of the day they both want the same thing - to make their state a better place.

It is really refreshing to see these two politicians put such a concerted effort into respecting each other's political views and think about the bigger picture.

It's also pretty ironic that they are using social media, the place where most political discourse occurs, to push out their message of unity and understanding.

Here is what it all boils down to, for me personally. We all expect our friends, family, co-workers, and everyone else we come into contact with to work together and support one another no matter the difference in political views. We should also expect the same from our leaders and hold them to that same standard.

I think about all of the people I come into contact with on a daily basis. Surely, some people that I know have different beliefs and views than I do. But, that does not mean I won't respect their opinions and treat them as I want to be treated.

At the end of the day, we all just want to be treated fairly and equally.

I believe if politicians across the country in all levels of government would respect each other the way these two candidates for Governor of Utah do, tensions surrounding the upcoming election would subside substantially.
