(Baton Rouge, LA) The Louisiana Lottery might have to change its name to the Louisiana Department of Good News and Financial Windfalls if the current trend of big-time lottery wins continues in the state. The state's lottery "draw games" have already produced two jackpot winners this year, and on Saturday, a Louisiana-sold ticket earned a prize of $150,000 playing the multi-state lottery game Powerball.

If you're not familiar with Powerball, the game costs $2 to play. It's $3 if you choose to add Power Play to your ticket. The Power Play option gives you the chance to multiply your winnings. I personally advise always spending the extra dollar on Power Play, but that's my philosphy yours might be different.

The player chooses five white ball numbers between one and sixty-nine. The player also chooses one Powerball number between one and twenty-six. If the player matches all five of the white balls and the red Powerball, they win the game's jackpot prize. Of course, there are lesser prizes for other number match scenarios.

How Much Was the Powerball Lottery Jackpot for Saturday, January 11, 2026?

We'll share the Louisiana number match scenario that won $150,000 right after you watch the Powerball drawing for Saturday, January 11, 2026.

As you can see in the video of Saturday's drawing, the top prize for the Powerball game was estimated to be $126.3 million. That was for the annuitized jackpot. The lump sum or cash payout for a Powerball jackpot match would have been $57.1 million.

No tickets sold across the Powerball footprint matched all the numbers needed to claim the jackpot prize. There were three tickets sold for Saturday's game that matched all of the white ball numbers but whiffed on the Powerball. That's got to be frustrating. But the prize for that match is one million dollars, so that might ease the frustration just a bit for those ticket holders in California, Ohio, and Oregon.
