Qualifying has ended for the upcoming primary election scheduled for November 4. For some Acadiana races, only one candidate qualified, meaning a winner is already decided.

In Youngsville, the new mayor will be current Youngsville councilman Ken Ritter. The current mayor, Wilson Viator, is retiring from public office.

The 16th Judicial District, which covers Iberia, St. Mary and St. Martin parishes, will have a new district attorney. Bo Duhe is the only candidate who qualified for that position. Current D.A. Phil Haney is not on the ballot.

And finally, in Carencro, it'll be a lot of the same faces in local government as most of the key figures will be elected unopposed. The following positions will continue with the same persons in office: Mayor, Chief of Police and all five City Council members.
