Reese Witherspoon and her husband Jim Toth were arrested early Friday morning in Atlanta. Jim was popped with a DUI and Reese for disorderly conduct.

Here's the lowdown. Police saw a car swerving sometime after midnight, so they pulled it over. Jim was driving and Reese was in the passenger's seat.

As the police were dealing with Jim, Reese got agitated and started getting impatient. One of the cops said, "She began to hang out the window and say that she did not believe that I was a real police officer."

He said he told her to sit down and be quiet. Of course she didn't. Once her husband was placed under arrest, she got out of the car. The cop told her to get back in but she said she was an American citizen and was allowed to "stand on American ground."

So, the cop tried to take her by the arms and she resisted while shouting, "Do you know my name?" When he said he didn't know who she was she replied, "You're about to find out who I am. You are going to be on national news."

Well, looks like she is the only one making the news here. She was then cuffed and arrested.

As for the husband, he told police that he only had one drink several hours earlier. But they gave him a breathalyzer and he blew .139, quite a bit more than the .08 legal limit.

(By the way, Reese is in Atlanta because she's filming a movie called "The Good Lie".)
