There is nothing like the anxiety that fills the air before an approaching hurricane. This day 11 years ago most people in Acadiana were very anxious and very scared. Hurricane Lili a category 4 storm was just off the coast of Louisiana a day earlier. The morning of October 3, 2002 Lili moved onshore. Thankfully the storm had weakened considerably in the final hours before landfall.

There was still a significant amount of water and wind damage for people all over the area to deal with. The storm pushed ashore near Intracoastal City in Vermilion Parish and then continued marching northward. Storm chaser Jim Leonard captured these images in Delcambre the morning the storm came ashore.
