Reports From Brazil, Sean Grebinger Is Dead

Sean Grebinger, the man who was married to a Lafayette woman who disappeared, was reportedly found dead today in a Brazilian prison according to KATC.

KATC sites Globo News and other news outlets as reporting that the 48-year-old man, suspected in the death of his Louisiana wife, Crystal Dupuis Grebinger, was found dead in the Brazilian prison were he was being held on an assault charge.

The assault charge stemmed from a January incident in which, Brazilian authorities say he assaulted his Brazilian wife.

Crystal Grebinger was last seen in 2013 outside Faith House, a shelter for abused and battered women and their children.

Sean Grebinger was questioned in Crystal's disappearance at that time, but he then left the United States to move to Brazil.

Any earlier report this week by Brazilian authorities said that Grebinger would be extradited back to Louisiana soon in relation to the case involving Crystal.

There is no word on whether the man was killed in prison, died of natural causes or committed suicide.
