River Road's History: From South Louisiana Dancehalls to Nashville
River Road first formed in 1989, cutting their teeth in the dancehalls and honkytonks of the region, eventually garnering attention from Nashville, where they signed to Capitol Records in 1997.
The Capitol Records Era and the Hunter Hayes Connection
Their self-titled debut album that year charted three singles on the Billboard country charts, including the top 40 hit "Nickajack."
By 1998, River Road moved to Virgin Records Nashville, charting a fourth single ("Breathless") and recording an unreleased album, which was to be entitled Somethin' in the Water.
In 2011, River Road released a self-titled EP that was co-produced by fellow country artist and Acadiana native Hunter Hayes. That album featured songs like "Good Things" and "Something I Can Wrap My Arms Around," which garnered local and regional radio airplay.
