The Rougarou Festival is an annual event that celebrates the Cajun folklore and culture surrounding the myth of the Rougarou, a werewolf-like creature said to inhabit the swamps of South Louisiana.
This fantastic festival is a free, family-friendly event with a mix of spooky and fun activities to embrace the Halloween season while honoring local heritage.

"The Rougarou Fest was ranked as one of the Top 10 Costume Parties in the United States by USA Today in 2014, one of the Top 20 Events out of 11 states in the month of October by the Southeast Tourism Society in 2015 and 2019, Best New Event in the state of Louisiana by the Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals in 2015, and Festival of the Year by the Louisiana Travel Association in 2020 and 2023."
The festival features live music from local Cajun and Zydeco bands, a costume contest, a parade, pumpkin lighting, a scavenger hunt, an outdoor movie/screening of "Hocus Pocus", and plenty of Rougarou-themed attractions.
There are also haunted houses, storytelling events, and swamp tours that dive into local myths and legends.
And don't forget about "Rou-Ga-Con"!
