10 Safest Caribbean Destinations for Louisiana Travelers
(KMDL-FM) Louisiana is a forward-thinking state. No, not in terms of infrastructure, modernization, and economic growth. What I mean is that at breakfast we're constantly looking ahead to lunch. And when we're on a current vacation, we're already planning the next vacation. And one of Louisiana's favorite vacation destinations is the Caribbean.
The island nations that make up the Caribbean tourism scene have been under fire as of late. Even though many of these islands are home to some of the most luxurious resorts in the world. Life outside the gates of those resorts is often anything but luxurious.

In recent months and, I guess, years now, the United States Department of State has issued travel advisories and warnings for travelers planning trips to many of these destinations. Some of these islands are still not "safe", at least in my opinion.
Why Are Some Caribbean Destinations Considered to be Unsafe?
I am not afraid of a little danger when I travel, but since there have been reports of bad things happening in the allegedly well-protected tourist areas of some of these islands, that's where my trepidation comes from.
To help folks like you and me make better travel decisions and find destinations where we can feel comfortable and actually relax, the people at Always All Inclusive have created the 2025 Caribbean Island Safety Index. The index takes into consideration those travel advisories we've already mentioned, the violent crime rates, hurricane frequency and resilience, and emergency healthcare access.
How Was The Caribbean Island Safety Index Calculated?
To arrive at an index figure, the folks at Always All Inclusive assigned a score from 0-10 for each island in each of the categories we described above. Once those scores were tallied, they were then put through a "weighting" process to determine the actual index.

Each of those categories was assigned a "weight" based on what travelers seem to care about the most. In the case of the Always All Inclusive Index for 2025, hurricane frequency was weighted at 15% and healthcare access was weighted at 25%. Travel advisories and violent crime concerns were each weighted at 30%.
