Following another bad performance on Sunday, kicker Garrett Hartley has been released by the New Orleans Saints.

Hartley will best be remembered for his game-winning overtime field goal kick in the 2009 NFC Championship game, sending the the Saints to the Super Bowl.

He's had a topsy-turvy ride with New Orleans, missing significant time on injured reserve, serving a 4-game drug suspension in 2009, and playing sporadic throughout his career. He originally signed with New Orleans midway through the 2008 season.

New Orleans also waived cornerback Chris Carr today.

Shayne Graham has been signed to replace Hartley. Graham was one of five kickers who tried out for the Saints last month when Hartley was struggling. Graham was actually a member of the New Orleans Saints during the 2000 preseason was an undrafted rookie free agent. At 36 years old, he's been a member of 14 different NFL rosters in his career.
