(KMDL-FM) All of the questions, all of the rumors, all of the hearsay came to an end yesterday when the New Orleans Saints and representatives for Saints running back Alvin Kamara announced they had come to terms on a contract. The restructured deal would keep Kamara in Black and Gold for the 2026 season.

According to sources close to both sides of the negotiations, the outcome of a reworked deal that kept Kamara in New Orleans was the goal from the outset. Both Kamara and the Saints had been openly vocal about wanting to keep the successful partnership going. With this new deal, it appears as if that goal has been reached.

What Do We Know About Alvin Kamara's Restructured Deal with the Saints?

The specifics of Alvin Kamara's restructured deal with New Orleans have not been made available. We do know that under Kamara's old deal, he was set to earn up to $11.5 million in base salary for the upcoming season. But that deal was reworked in March to help with salary cap considerations. It was also noted that $3 million of Kamara's deal had been converted to guaranteed money.

Speculation that Kamara's time in New Orleans was running out reached a fever pitch when the Saints signed former Jacksonville Jaguar and Jennings Louisiana High School Star Travis Etienne Jr to a four-year deal.

Many NFL pundits wondered if the team could afford to have that much salary money tied up in the running back position with both Kamara and Etienne Jr set to earn a combined $21 million.

The news of Kamara's deal was first reported on Terron Armstead's "The Set" Podcast. On the podcast, Armstead spoke of how Kamara appears to be energized by the new deal and is anxious to make up for the past couple of seasons, which have not seen AK perform at his best.
