St. Martin Parish authorities continue searching for a Breaux Bridge man who went missing on Saturday, March 30, 2024.

27-year-old Ronald Batiste was last seen in Henderson fishing with a friend on Saturday evening.

KLFY TV-10 spoke with a cousin of Batiste's, Kunkeisha Alexander, who said the family quickly notified the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office after learning that Batiste fell into the water while fishing with a friend.

“He was fishing with his friend, they did describe that they did see him fall into the water. After that, he disappeared and they didn’t see him anymore,” Alexander told the television station.

Authorities, along with friends and family, have been searching for Batiste, but have had no luck so far.

Peter Batiste, Ronald's uncle, said that heavy waves have made finding his nephew even more difficult.

“All that current, it’s very hard because he’s not gonna stay in one spot, he’s gonna move,” said Peter.

Peter had some poignant advice for other families.

“Tell them that you love them, don’t wait until something happens and y’all all have to come together. Keep that on a daily basis,” said Peter.

While the search continues, the family remains hopeful that Ronald will be found.
