Now that the winter weather is (hopefully) behind us, we'll turn our attention to our yards and our homes and the annual "Spring Cleaning".

Part of that cleaning, I'm sure, will include going through that cabinet in the garage that has the paint you kept from when you repainted the kids' bathroom 9 years ago. Or maybe the chemicals from that pool you used to have. The can of gas from last year? It's time for all of it to go, but make sure you dispose of it properly.

That's where the Lafayette Consolidated Government's "Household Hazardous Waste Day" comes to the rescue!

It's a day where you can drop off a whole host of items that CAN NOT go into your normal waste receptacle. Items you can drop off on March 6th include:

  • Alkaline Batteries

  • Chemical Cleaners

  • Fluorescent Tubes

  • Gasoline

  • Herbicides

  • Mercury Thermometers

  • Paint & Paint Products

  • Paint Thinner & Stripper

  • Pesticides

  • Photographic Chemicals

  • Pool Chemicals

  • Stains

  • Turpentine - LCG

Electronics will NOT be accepted at this event, only household chemicals listed above.

The event is scheduled for March 6th, 2021, from 8am until noon.
