Throw out the records, rankings and history. Let's play some baseball.

Cross-town rivals St Thomas More Cougars and Teurlings Catholic Rebels will be squaring off on Saturday in Sulphur at McMurry Park at 2pm for the 4A State Championship.

Both teams advanced in semifinal action last night in the LHSAA State Baseball Tournament.

The fifth seeded Teurlings blew by #1 Tioga by a final of 16-1.

St Thomas More, the defending state champions and #2 seed, breezed past sixth seeded St. Michael Archangel 12-2 in six innings.

Saturdays game will mark the first time ever that two Lafayette Parish schools will meet in a State Championship baseball game. By the way, STM has won the last five meetings in the series between the two schools.
