The town of Sugar Land, Texas recently installed a couple of sculptures in the Town Square's public plaza, but instead of enjoying them, people are criticizing the city for one of the statues.

One of the statues installed is a guitar player sitting on the ledge of a fountain. The other is of two girls taking a selfie with City Hall in the background.

According to a city press release, the statues are part of a 10-piece collection donated by a Sugar Land resident to the city through its Sugar Land Legacy Foundation.

People on social media are having a field day criticizing the city for that sculpture.

"When you just mess around with taxpayers' money.....," Marshall Parrott tweeted.

The City of Sugar Land responded with the following tweet:

"These statues were a donation from a resident. More information here: http://www.sugarlandtx.gov/DocumentCenter/View/5565."

Here are some more social media reactions to the statue.
