20-year-old Dequavious Johnson of Opelousas is behind bars after St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s investigators say he carried out multiple drive-by shootings.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Chief Eddie Thibodeaux says it began in Opelousas on June 23 when Johnson’s cousin was injured in a shooting. Then, Johnson allegedly carried out drive-by shootings in Morrow, Bunkie, and Opelousas over the next couple of days.

He’s being charged with 5 counts of Attempted 1st Degree Murder and 5 counts of Assault by Drive by Shooting after the shooting in Morrow included two trailer homes with five people inside. Authorities say evidence linked him to the scene of all three drive-by shootings.

He’s in the St. Landry Parish Jail on a bond of $625,000.00.
