As the 2017/2018 school year is about to start, there are still many questions about the busing situation. In some cases, there are students who still haven't been assigned a bus stop for the start of school Wednesday. The Lafayette Parish School System will be open again tomorrow for parents who need answers and solutions about their kid's busing situation.
One Change.org group called "Concerned Parents" has started an online petition to hopefully persuade the Lafayette Parish School Board to institute increased recess time for students.
Back in August the Lafayette Parish School Board proposed new school zones for Lafayette Parish. After a few board meetings on the subject, it seems the School Board could officially adopt these new zoning maps later today.
As far as an explanation for the suggested changes, we are currently trying to get comment from Lafayette Parish School Superintendent Dr. Donald Aguillard.
