Texas Refineries Gearing Up To Resume Operations
Hurricane Harvey shut down multiple refineries in Texas, idling about 25% of US production. Gasoline prices spiked almost immediately. There's good news on the horizon. AP reports, one of the country's largest refineries is gearing up to resume production. Motiva's refinery in Port Arthur will reportedly be operating at 40% capacity by Monday. It's capable of processing more than 600,000 barrels a day, and can produce more at 40% capacity than other refineries operating at 100%. Valero reports its Port Arthur facility is gearing up to restart as well.
