The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns traveled to Tuscaloosa for a match-up with the number one team in the nation. You knew coming into this game that it was going to be a very big long shot for the Cajuns but you wanted to see them fight and show a little something against this SEC opponent. It would not go well for UL as they would fall, 56-14.

The Crimson Tide would receive the opening kickoff and it didn't take long for them to take the lead and then subsequently block a Cajuns punt that leads to a short field and it was a 14-0 lead before you could blink.

The Crimson Tide would add another special teams highlight into the mix as Jaylen Waddle exploded on a punt return for 63 yards and a score, at the time that would make it 21-0 Alabama. Missed tackles and poor coverage doomed the Cajuns on that one.

Alabama would go onto score 56 unanswered points heading into the fourth quarter before UL was able to get on the board. The Cajuns got on the board via their running game which was surprisingly pretty successful against the Tide's defense.

On the first score, Elijah Mitchell took a carry for 40 yards down to the Bama one-yard line before Trey Ragas bulldozed his way into the end zone for the score. 56-7 was the score at that time.

The second score came on a 12 play drive which featured nine running plays, mostly by Ragas and Mitchell and was capped off by an eighteen-yard strike from Ande Nunez to Ja'Marcus Bradley that would end the scoring for the day at 56-14.

As I had mentioned, the running game for the Cajuns was good and here's a fun fact, Alabama hadn't allowed a 100-yard rusher since the Iron Bowl in 2017 when they played Auburn. It was Kerryon Johnson who accomplished the feat who now plays for the Detroit Lions in the NFL. Trey Ragas ended the day with 16 carries for 111 yards and a touchdown. Elijah Mitchell also added 11 carries for 85 yards.

With the loss, the Ragin' Cajuns fall to 1-3 on the year and will hit the road to take on the Texas State Bobcats next Saturday, October 6th at 6 pm.
